Lovely scene. If this is a mindscape, it is interesting that her tattoos are still present.

Glad you noticed ^^ The tattoos are an integral part of her current self. They represent the heritage she received from Maltessa and the pirate life. In this idealised body projection, she certainly has them, along with her 18 y/o less beat-up face and the fitter adult body.

I thought it was probably something like that. It would be interesting from a storytelling perspective (even if an unjustifiably large amount of work for the artist) if the tattoos were _different_ between mindscape and real life.

In the mindscape, any tattoo that was deeply significant or (as you say) integral to her self-image would be present -- even if she never got around to getting it in real-life. On the other hand, trivial souvenirs of drunken one-night stands would probably be not present. I don't know how diligent Raven has been about only getting ink for things that matter, so it's certainly possible the two would be one and the same. Alternatively, it could be used like an 'Inception' totem. If she thinks she's dreaming she checks a spot normally hidden under clothing to see if there's a tattoo there. ^_^

As "Ghost" Gally, she didn't want any. Recognizable traits are a drawback for an assassin, or so she thought. But when Maltessa died she decided to engrave all the memories on her own body so that she would never forget them. Every single one of them has a deep meaning.

I was actually tempted by your suggestion to make an alternative set for Raven, but upon closer inspection the above holds true. It's a bit eerie, considering the story wasn't fully formed when I designed it. I mean, two ravens "kissing" on her shoulder, two crows on her back, wings on her chest... even an assassin memento on her thigh. It's almost as if the tattoos made her story!

That's very cool then, a character's inner attitude revealed in her design -- even if she might consciously wish to hide it away. ^_^

Uhmm Ghost is how she was called in her pirate days, but Gally... gally... uhm?

Are those the voices from the dead? Just don't enter the light, raven!

Gally was her street name. She received the nickname "Ghost" from Blackwing and was known as Ghost Gally (7_02) until the crew disbanded. Then she became Raven, a name she picked herself, mostly in homage to Tessa.
